I participate in a creative photographer group with other photographers I met online & each week we challenge ourselves to new photography exercises. Last week someone chose the great challenge of "A Day In The Life", photographing your entire day from start to end!! My day in pictures was photographed over multiple days because I am a SAHM who works full-time from home, & has a photography business and my husband is on the road traveling a lot for work, so we made it work when we could to get the photos in. I still managed to miss a few photos here & there, but I will just add that part in with the description of the day. So here it goes...
I usually wake up around 6:30 or 7am & get coffee going first thing! Brantley is my alarm clock most mornings. Once I hear him on the monitor, I can almost guarantee he will be playing with his closet light switch or jumping in his crib! I usually have to play hide & seek to find the 3 or 4 nuks that he dropped somewhere throughout the night too! Daddy usually calls in the morning because he is typically long gone by the time we wake up. Brantley gets really excited to hear his voice!! Next we change diapers & get dressed for the day. I typically use cloth diapers, but we have had a few crazy, busy weeks, so you will see all disposables throughout our story.
Next, I typically shower while Brantley eats in his booster seat in the bathroom, but the highchair was better for the story! After he finishes his breakfast, he plays while I do work! He plays so hard he gets tired for his morning nap, which he usually takes around 9/9:30am.
Once Brantley falls asleep, I feed the dogs & let them out, then I make phone calls for work. After phone calls are done, I send emails, put jobs together, send out UPS shipments & any other work that needs to be done. This is also when I check emails & do a few picture edits if I get the chance.
Once Brantley wakes up, it is usually time for lunch shortly after, then more playtime for Brantley & work for mommy...We always make sure to have our play time together too! Brantley loves tickles, hugs, kisses, & giving knuckles!!
Brantley plays so hard, that he is usually ready for his afternoon nap around 2:30/3pm. This is when I try to get some laundry done & more work of course, both work work & picture work- editing pictures, blog updates, etc. When Brantley wakes up, it is time for snack, then I try to do some exercises, but you can see how well that works out for me!!
In the afternoons, we usually go for a walk, get the mail, & play outside. It was too hard to get many action shots of him playing as he is too all over the place & wants to constantly move! Brantley tries to help me with the laundry...his favorite thing is to pull out every piece of clothing one at a time & throw them on the floor until there is a pile big enough for him to crawl on!!
Brantley loves his new tractor & guitar he got at his birthday party last weekend! He also likes to watch mickey mouse clubhouse! Lucky for us, he only sees/hears Mickey, looks & smiles, then goes back to playing!! After playing hard, he has worked up an appetite & it's time for dinner. Brantley loves our big chair where he can watch out the window. He waits for daddy to get home & the look on his face when he walks in the door is just priceless!
Brantley helps me feed the dogs & let them outside; he loves doggy kisses, especially from little Roxy!! Daddy takes Brantley for a short 4-wheeler ride most nights as he is now obsessed with the 4-wheeler & lawn mower! He stares at pictures of himself & daddy on the mower that we have in frames on the living room walls. He points, smiles, says dada, then cries because he can't go out! He also cries when the rides are over & he has to come inside the house! I have a feeling this is only going to get worse!!
When daddy & Brantley finish their 4-wheeler ride, they usually share an ice cream bar together. During this time is when I am usually cooking dinner, cleaning up, & doing more work. Brantley sometimes gets so tired he has to take a short nap before bed around 6pm for about 30 min or so, that is what you can see below. Once he wakes up, or we usually have to wake him I should say, it is time for bath, then more playing!!
Brantley loves to chew on his tooth brush & brush his own teeth while playing, but I still use the finger brush with baby toothpaste to clean them as well. I forgot to take pictures of us reading books together, but this is when that would happen. He also loves to look at books & play with them himself during the day! He usually throws pillows on the floor & rolls around on them, then sometimes he even falls asleep! It is usually bedtime around 9pm. Once Brantley is sleeping for the night, mommy & daddy get back to work. I usually stay up until 12am or 1am finishing up work & picture work that didn't get done during the day. Then off to bed to repeat this crazy life again tomorrow!!
